COACH DETAILS: Leanna Assels
Leanna competed for over 21 years and received a full ride academic and athletic scholarship to Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois, in 2008 with her pitching. One of her biggest softball career highlights was attending the 2000 Little League World Series representing Canada in Portland Oregon. She has competed in multiple Western and National championships, and travelled frequently to the US to compete. Her primary position was always a pitcher and later in my career I was a pitcher and designated hitter.
Leanna started coaching when she was 18 and has been a coach and pitching instructor for the last 8 years. Several of her players have gone on to commit and sign with NCAA Div 1 & 2 universities.
Per Leanna: "As a pitching instructor, I really focus on mechanics and breaking those down for each individual pitcher. Not all pitchers are the same and our bodies require different movements. I am highly skilled in being aware of those mechanics and being able to pick out what a pitcher is struggling with and finding a solution for them. I focus on not only mechanics and the physical aspect of pitching but also the mental side and coping techniques that pitchers can use in practice or game situations. "
